Directions to Corporate Headquarters

The Reading Enterprise Centre is in the University of Reading Whiteknights campus. It is in a prime location in the South-East of England and has excellent transport links. Reading's railway station has direct high speed links to and from London Paddington (30 mins) and London Waterloo (65 mins) as well as regular services to and from other cities around the UK. There are direct services to and from both London Heathrow and London Gatwick Airports. The Reading Enterprise Centre is approx 2 miles from Junction 10 or 11 of the M4 motorway allowing easy access by car and to Heathrow International Airport (25 miles).

Travelling By Car

The easiest and most direct route is via the M4 motorway. If you are travelling from London Heathrow, London Gatwick or other London Airports, the M4 is accessed from Junction 15 on the M25 London orbital).

Leave the M4 motorway at Junction 11. Please note that there have been recent changes to the road layout at the top of the slip road.

  • When you reach the roundabout at the top of the slip road follow the signs for the University of Reading.
  • Follow this road and at the first roundabout turn left on to the A327 (Shinfield Road).
  • Follow this road and go straight through two sets of traffic lights, passing a parade of shops and Leighton Park School.

For the Earley Gate entrance

  • Turn right at the third traffic light junction into Pepper Lane.
  • Continue passed the Pepper Lane entrance to the University until you reach a roundabout. Turn left onto Wilderness Road.
  • Follow this road until the third mini-roundabout and turn left into Whiteknights Road. The entrance to the University is immediately on your left.

Please note: If you are using a 'sat nav' or 'GPS' navigation system such as a 'Tom Tom', please use the following postcode in order to navigate to the Earley gate entrance: RG6 7BE

Travelling by Rail

Reading is a mainline train station and is easily accessible from most other places around the UK. There are direct trains from a number of major cities as well as a large number of routes through London. If you are travelling from or via London the best (and quickest) route to take is from London's Paddington station.

Travelling from London Paddington

Trains from Paddington to Reading run approximately every 15-20 minutes throughout the day and the average journey time is around 30 minutes.

Travelling from Reading Station to the University

PLUSBUS is available in Reading. PLUSBUS is a cheap bus pass (like a travelcard) that you buy with your train ticket at any National Rail station booking office, by phone or online. It gives you unlimited bus travel around the whole urban area of the origin and/or destination town of your train journey, including to and from the rail station.

Once you arrive at the train station you will need to get a taxi or bus to the University campus. The bus stand and taxi rank can be found outside the station. A taxi will cost you approximately £6 and a bus journey will cost you £1.70 (you will need the exact money as the buses do not give change).

The buses that run from the train station to the University are as follows:

  • To Whiteknights campus (Earley Gate): numbers 17 (Stand FN) or 22 (Stand SJ)

Travelling by Bus From London Heathrow (LHR)

The RailAir Bus picks up passengers from stands 1 and 2 at the Central Bus Station, and stand 10 at the Terminal 5 Bus and Coach Station. After you have collected your luggage and passed customs, follow the directions, outlined below, from your terminal to the Central Bus Station.

Tickets can be purchased from the counter in the Central Bus Station, and from the National Express Sales Desk at Terminal 5. A single ticket costs £14, and return tickets are also available. Coaches run every 20 minutes, and take one hour.

Directions from Terminals 1-4 to the Central Bus Station, and to the Terminal 5 Bus and Coach Station are listed below:

  • Terminal 1 - From International arrivals follow the sign for Underground and Central Bus Station. From UK and Ireland follow signs for Underground and Terminals 2 and 3, which direct you towards the lifts (then follow signs for Underground and Central Bus Station.) Use the lifts to reach the basement level.
  • Terminal 2 - Leave the building through the doorway immediately in front of the exit from customs and follow signs for Underground and buses, which direct you towards the below-surface travelator. Alternatively, you may prefer to use the street-level access by exiting the terminal building through the revolving doors on the ground floor.
  • Terminal 3 - Follow signs for Underground and Central Bus Station, taking the ramp or stairs to access the below-surface subway link.
  • Terminal 4 - Use the FREE Heathrow Express shuttle service. Travel in the carriages at the rear of the train and alight at Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Follow signs for Terminals 2 and 3 but as soon as you see signs for buses and underground follow these instead.
  • Terminal 5 - Follow signs for Local Buses upon exiting arrivals. If you do not already have a ticket, these can be purchased from the National Express Sales Desk which is located inside the Terminal building (turn left out of arrivals) opposite Costa Coffee. You will find stand 10 by exiting the terminal building opposite the National Express Sales desk.
  • Travelling by Rail From London Gatwick (LGW)

    Direct trains run to Reading from Gatwick Airport every hour and take about 1hr 15 minutes. A single ticket costs around £15 and can be purchased at the station in Gatwick airport.

    Travelling By Bus or Coach

    If you are travelling to Reading by National Express Coach you will be dropped off at Calcot (next to a large Sainsbury's supermarket). In order to get to the University campus you must first take a bus to the train station and then take a second bus to the University.

    Travelling from Calcot to Reading station

    The buses that run from Calcot to the train station are numbers 25, 44, 101, 102 or 103. The bus fare costs £1.70 each way and you will need the exact money as the buses do not give change.

    Travelling from Reading station to the University

    Once you arrive at the train station you will need to get a taxi or bus to the University campus. The bus stand and taxi rank can be found outside the station. A taxi will cost you approximately £6 and a bus journey will cost you £1.70 (you will need the exact money as the buses do not give change).

    Travelling by foot or on bicycle

    The Earley Gate entrance from Earley station is approximately 0.8 miles, around 15 minutes by foot to the edge of campus. Please allow extra time to find your destination.

    • Turn right onto Wokingham Road (A329)
    • Turn left onto Wilderness Road (B3350)
    • Turn right onto Whiteknights Road
